You Are My Sweetheart

Remember my younger days when the girl boy special events were starting, those first times at camp dance socials and Bar Mitzvahs.  We were full of excitement and nervousness, feeling butterflies   galore. None of the girls, including me, had special boyfriends so there were many chance happenings.

Of course, days before it was all about picking or shopping for the perfect dress and shoes along with a practice hairdo day. Then came the time, girls meeting up while watching the boys gather a short distance away talking amongst themselves looking calm and cool. 

The party was on, instinctively fast music invited us all to the dance floor.  Those first moments of fear and jitters had passed as we happily danced, some were girls together while there were sneaked peeks to see who paired up with who.

By the end of the night we giggled, said our goodbyes and compared notes for hours.

As I fast forward to high school and beyond there's a remembrance of sending or handing out those cute Valentines Day cards, the pink or red envelopes with heart shaped cards - " Be My Valentine" sayings inside.  Does anyone still do that?  Has the internet’s email system become the norm?  I sure hope not entirely. You may call me an Old Fashion so'n so, that's okay! 

One thing we can be sure of is change, but I say Love, Gift Giving and butterflies win out always!  Show 'n Tell those special people in your life you care no matter how silly you may feel.
