Made for Living

Made for Living

There is a quiet misconception about beautiful things.

We sometimes believe they must be protected from life rather than invited into it. We save the fine china for guests, the linen tablecloth for holidays, the favorite perfume for special evenings, and the handbag we truly love for occasions that somehow never seem important enough.

I have never believed that. To me, a handbag only begins its story when it leaves the studio.

It accompanies a leisurely lunch with friends. It rests beside a café table while conversations drift from one subject to another. It carries a favorite book onto an airplane, flowers home from the market, sunglasses for an afternoon walk, or a handwritten note tucked safely into an inside pocket. It quietly witnesses birthdays, anniversaries, unexpected encounters, and countless ordinary moments that later become treasured memories.

Luxury should never feel untouchable. That philosophy guides the way I design. Objects, like people, gain depth through experience.

The bag pictured here captures a woman reclining peacefully in a graceful chaise, surrounded by beauty, color, and imagination. She is not rushing. She is simply present. That image reminds me that elegance is not created by extraordinary occasions alone. It is created by how we choose to experience an ordinary afternoon.

The materials are selected to be both beautiful and enduring. The leather softens with time. The handles become more familiar in your hand. The corners acquire subtle signs of journeys taken. Rather than diminishing the bag, these gentle changes become part of its character. Like a favorite leather-bound journal or a well-loved piece of furniture, it becomes richer because it has been lived with.

Some of my favorite handbags have accompanied me through airports, galleries, neighborhood markets, elegant dinners, and quiet weekends away. I do not remember every outfit I wore, but I remember where those bags traveled with me. They became companions rather than possessions.

That is a very different way of thinking about luxury.

True craftsmanship is not fragile. It is resilient. It is meant to participate in your life, not wait patiently for permission to do so. Beauty should never become something we admire only from a distance.

I hope the women who carry my handbags feel comfortable bringing them everywhere that matters—to a celebration, to a meeting, to a favorite restaurant, or simply to run errands on a sunny afternoon. Life rarely announces its most meaningful moments in advance. They often arrive disguised as ordinary days.

The things we carry become part of those memories. A handbag should not spend its life on a shelf waiting for perfection. It should gather stories, witness laughter, travel well, and age with quiet dignity.

Because the finest luxury is not preserved. It is lived.
