Getting Dressed in the Morning... or the Afternoon... Actually, Anytime!

I figure most women have their established styles—favorite color palettes, best lengths of dresses and slacks, accessories such as rings, earrings, and of course, shoes.
Oh gee... did I forget the handbags? Certainly not! So... do we change them often, sometimes, hardly ever? And more to the point of my thought of the day….
I noticed a while ago that we stopped having to match our shoes and handbags, which, by the way, was a necessary fashion custom when I was growing up. I won’t even mention the gloves—although they’ve not been relevant in South Miami for several decades now!
The fashion industry is a mighty force, constantly redefining and reshaping the rules from season to season. I must admit, I love seeing what’s next on the runway, how those trends translate into everyday wear, and the excitement of incorporating the essence of new styles into my own wardrobe.
And yet, sometimes, I find joy in breaking the rules—digging up vintage treasures I’ve held onto and mixing them with the current 'in look,' whether it be sweaters, skirts, jewelry, shoes, or, of course, bags. There’s such a fun freedom in embracing personal style and, most importantly, remembering not to save special pieces for just the right occasion.
Here’s what I love most about bending the rules: deciding when and how far to push them. The best part? Playing with two iconic fashion philosophies—'Less is More' and 'More is More'—and having fun with both!
To the joy of dressing—have fun!
Warmly,
